Betty J. Borry Breast Cancer Retreats

Founded in memory of Betty J. Borry, BJBBCR is a retreat and support program for women living after breast cancer. BJBBCR provides adventure-based opportunities for women to challenge themselves physically, mentally and spiritually. Participation in an adventure-based retreat with other breast cancer survivors provides the tools to develop new behaviors and coping mechanisms as well as a social network of support.

Retreat programs occur several times per year throughout New England, in outdoor education and retreat centers. Adventure activities may include challenge courses, high ropes, kayaking, snowshoeing, hiking, yoga and expressive arts.

BreastCancerStories.com

BreastCancerStories.com is a free resource for women and men everywhere who are going through breast cancer to stay in touch with loved ones and one another while going through treatment.

Breast cancer patients are provided with their own unique web address where they can write and upload diary entries and photos whenever they feel the need to write. Friends and family members can visit their loved one’s website, follow their story, and leave messages of support. Newly diagnosed breast cancer patients can search through an index of stories based on age, location, type of cancer and type of treatment, find someone similar to them, and follow their story, helping them to feel not quite so alone.

On Belay

On Belay is an adventure-based program for children ages 10-18 who are dealing with an adult's cancer diagnosis. The program is based on Adventure Learning philosophies and is designed to help kids regain a sense of personal power, security and control. Children are encouraged to bring a friend and spend the day completing challenges, climbing, belaying (a sailing term that refers to the use of a rope and pulley to stop a climber's fall) and reaching new heights.

On Belay was founded by Crescentia Healy-True after she was diagnosed and found that support services for her two preteen daughters were lacking. On Belay currently offers two programs per year at no charge to participants.
